MightyKool® (Left) is often used in Golf Carts in Dry Climates as it
is not permanently mounted.
'True' Air Conditioning provides the best possible relief
from heat in either Humid or Dry Areas of the World by reducing
Humidity while providing Cold Crisp Air. Typically battery operated
Golf Car Coolers for Dry Desert Areas use Evaporative Cooling
like the well designed $800+- Cool
Breeze®. Then under Humid Conditions a properly designed
battery operated Golf Car Air Conditioner is used like the $2,300+-
Masterflux®.
Using energy from your battery
system; the Cool Breeze uses 72 Watts;
the Masterflux uses 330 Watts while
the New MightyKool MG4 uses from 33
to 50 Watts.
We could not find where Masterflux lists their BTU, however a Refrigerated system using 330 Watts relates to around 4,000+- BTU. While the MG4 using only 50 Watts relates to approximately 8,000+- BTU using Ice & Water.
The negative to the MG4 is that it uses Ice instead of Battery
Energy to provide 'True' Air Conditioned Comfort, however your
Batteries may think this is a Positive in the long run.
You will always have Stagnate Water sitting inside a typical Evaporative
Cooler for weeks or even months, unless you go to the trouble
of draining it, however not in the MG4! Any excess water will
end up in the ice chest, which you easily remove by taking the
return hose from the ice chest, turn on the MG4 and it automatically
pumps the water out on a tree or bush of your choosing! Any small
amount of water remaining in the MG4 will dissipate in a short
time because the unique cooling filter pad draws any moisture
into it and evaporates it quickly into the atmosphere. This means
that when you use your MG4 the next time you will be breathing
clean fresh healthy air!
Tapping into 12-Volts is simple as the MG4 uses only 3.4 amps (41 Watts) so that you can even operate it on an inexpensive 12-volt "Power Station" which comes with a built in charger. Or you may use a Flexible Cigarette Lighter Receptacle that clamps onto your Golf Car battery pack. Both of these items are typically available at Auto Parts stores, Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc.
The
12-Volt 3-speed MG4 uses the same basic system we have shipped
all over the World to individuals and governments for use in Vehicles,
Boats & Aircraft to reduce Humidity while providing Cold Crisp
Air. Swampy Technicians used this same basic system to develop
a Golf Car Model in limited quantities for 2007.
You cannot blow air into or through ice
without increasing humidity which is a form of Evaporative Cooling.
Some companies claim to have Air Conditioners, however they increase
humidity leading to more discomfort in humid areas.
Understanding this problem our Swampy Company developed
and has produced 'True' 12-volt Air Conditioning since 2001. Our
systems are used under the most severe heat soaked humid conditions,
such as in enclosed vehicles sitting in direct sunlight for surveillance.
Golf
Car Evaporative Cooling systems provide relief from the heat in
dry desert climates because the cool air produced can be as much
as 25 degrees cooler than the ambient air. In the case of our
new MightyKool MG4 Dual Cooling System, using water only, the
cool air produced will be at least 30 degrees cooler under the
same circumstances.
As an example if the ambient temperature on a dry day in the desert were 110 degrees the cool air produced from a well-designed evaporative cooler would be 85+- and 80+- degrees with the MG4 using water only. Under the same circumstances the MG4 would produce 65+- degrees using Ice & Water!
You do not need an enclosure on your Golf Car to enjoy the cold air produced, although you may if you wish. If you are using water only you need some ventilation for Evaporative Cooling.
We furnish all you need except the ice chest, of your choice, that would typically be located behind your seat. Place the pump in the ice chest and plug in the 12-volt cigarette lighter then add a small amount of water and fill with ice, turn the MG4 on & you will feel the cold air in seconds.
All
of our Ice Models are capable of using from 15 to 20 pounds of
ice per hour during the heat of the day when operating it. We
began this project in 1995 and the first models would only use
5 to 10 pounds per hour, which was not adequate. Now enjoy True
Air Conditioned comfort with the MightyKool MG4!
The method the MG4 uses to produce cold air is possible because of many thousands of hours of design and the Power of Ice when used in a properly designed system. The MG4 may be installed by your favorite Dealer or by providing a 7" square hole in the roof that will easily support the 10-pound weight. A key hole saw may even be used to cut the soft top material and you may wish to go up & review the ideas on Tapping into 12-Volts.
One gallon (3.75 liters) of water will last around two to
three hours in the daytime and four to five hours during the night
when used for evaporative cooling in dry desert climates. The
"Ice Water" models are capable of using from 10 pounds
(4.5 kilograms) up to 20 pounds (9.0 kilograms) of ice per hour,
or more, depending on the ambient temperature and day or night
operation.
A 105 Deep Cycle battery, "not being charged", allow
the MW1, MW2 to operate for 50 to 80 hours and the "Ice Water"
models like the MK3, MK4, MAC & M400 will operate for 25 to
35 hours before the battery needs charging. The Swampy Models
will operate about 8 hours before the battery would need charging
as they draw more energy.
